On Monday, 8 August 2022 Councillors officially paved the way for stages of the World Rally Championships New Zealand leg to be held in our district.
They decided (12-1) to approve the closure of roads in the Raglan and Te Akau areas to allow the event to take place on 29 September 2022.
We received 527 submissions from all over NZ on the event organiser's application to close roads, with 75% of them supporting the application.
This included 116 (with 63 against) from Raglan area and 100 (7 against) from Waikato district.
