Learn how to renew a book

Don’t think you will finish reading your books before they are due back to the library? You can now renew your library items at home!

Items that are free to check out can be renewed once, for another 28 days from the time of renewal. You can do this online by logging into the library catalogue using your library card number and pin and renewing items via your checkouts tab, or through the Waikato District libraries app (free on the App Store or Google Play). You can also call your nearest library or reply to your reminder email to renew your items.

Some items cannot be renewed:

  • Items that are not free to check out (such as magazines and kits) cannot be renewed
  • Items that are on hold for another customer cannot be renewed
  • Items that have already been renewed once cannot be renewed again
  • The renewal process does not include eCollection items.
