Waikato District Council notified its decisions on the Proposed Waikato District Plan on Monday 17 January 2022.

The decisions come after a publicly notified Stage 1 of the Proposed Waikato District Plan on 18 July 2018, and Stage 2 on 27 July 2020. During the notified stages, Council sought two ministerial approvals to extend the delivery deadline, of which both were granted.

Council received over 1000 submissions, covering more than 10,000 individual submission points on the PDP, after it was notified in 2018.  More than 46 hearings were held in person and online, and these were completed in July 2021.

The independent commissioners prepared their decisions which have now been formally notified. Appeals are now open and must be served on the Waikato District Council within 30 working days from notice of decision (appeals close on 2 March 2022).
