Contractors have assessed the extent of work required following a seismic assessment undertaken Thursday 12 June 2025.

Factoring in design work needed for repairs, three weeks is needed to complete the job.

A plan is being put together to offer temporary services while the work is being done, we will update the community about this plan on Monday 16 June 2025.

In the meantime:

  • Books can be returned via the after hours return slot at the library building, or at the Ngaaruawaahia office or you can keep hold of them until the library is open again.
  • Ngaaruawaahia Community House has kindly offered to carry out any printing and scanning activities. All you need to do is email ahead to let them know you’re coming at reception@ngacomhouse.co.nz
  • If you need other library services, please head over to Huntly for now.

The last time the building was seismically assessed was in 2016.

Since then, there have been changes in design and assessment standards of some aspects of the assessment process.

This latest assessment uncovered work needed on beams and post installed anchors to bring the building up to current standards.

We acknowledge the disruption this may cause - we will resume normal service as soon as possible.
