Holiday hours

The holiday season is here and this means a change to our normal opening hours and some services. Of course, many of our essential services will still be available to keep our district running over the holidays.

Phone

Our phonelines will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for any urgent enquiries. This includes noise control, urgent dog or animal calls, requests for cemetery assistance (burials), etc.

For non-urgent requests  that require our attention, or have questions regarding one of our services (rubbish, recycling, billing etc.) you can log a request via our online Report it tool.

Our offices will be closed from 5pm, Friday 20 December 2024,and re-open Monday 6 January 2025. 

Opening hours and processing dates

Alcohol licensing

Processing for alcohol licensing will stop Friday 20 December 2024 and will start again Wednesday 15 January 2025.

The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2023 stops the statutory processing clock over Christmas and New Year.

Need a licence?

If you need a licence for an event happening before or after the closedown, apply by Thursday 21 November 2024. 

If you need a licence for an event from Wednesday 22 January to the Friday 7 February 2025, apply by Wednesday 27 November 2024

Animal control and dog pounds

Our dog pound will be closed Friday 20 December 2024 and re-open Monday 6 January 2024.

Our Animal Control Officers will be on call over this period for any urgent dog or stock issues, such as dog aggression, stock on roads, etc.

To report any urgent issues, please phone 0800 492 452Request logged through other avenues will not be processed until Monday 6 January 2025.

Building and resource consents

Building consents and Resource consents

The statutory working day clock for resource consents will stop Friday 20 December 2024 and will start again Monday 13 January 2025.

Both the Building Act 2004 and the Resource Management Act 1991 stop the statutory processing clock over Christmas and New Year. 

Building inspections

There will be no inspections available after Friday 20 December 2024. Inspections will resume Monday 6 January 2025.

Duty planner
Our duty planner service will not be available from a Thursday 19 December 2024 but will start again Monday 13 January 2025 for emails and phone calls, while face-to-face meetings resume Monday 15 January 2025.
Libraries
Our libraries will be closed from Saturday 21 December 2024 (last day) and re-open Monday 6 January 2025.
LIMs and property enquiries

LIMs

The statutory clock for LIM reports will stop on Friday 20 December 2024 and will start again Friday 10 January 2025.

Property enquiries

Our property enquiry service will not be available from close of business on Friday 20 December 2024 and will start again Friday 10 January 2025.

Official information requests

Processing for official information requests will stop Friday 20 December 2024 and resume Friday 10 January 2025.

The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 stops the statutory processing clock over Christmas and New Year.

Glen Murray recycling drop-off

The Saturday 4 January 2025 collection has been cancelled.

Our collections on Saturday 1 February and Saturday 1 March will operate for an extra two hours, 8am to 2pm.

Transfer stations

Closed for stat days only.

Xtreme Zero Waste - Raglan

Closed 24, 25 and 26 December 2024, as well as 1 and 2 January 2025.

Swimming pools

Our Ngaaruawaahia and Tuakau pools will be open, alongside our Huntly pools, during the holiday period. Hours may vary.

Water meter reading

Unfortunately we are unable to undertake any special/final water meter readings from Friday 20 December 2024 through to Monday 6 January 2025.

If you require a reading during this time, please take a time-stamped photo and email it to info@waidc.govt.nz, this will be processed after Monday 6 January 2025.
