Free swimming lessons
The best way to ensure kids are safe and water-savvy is by teaching them the basics around the pool. If you’ve got friends or whaanau learning to swim, our holiday swim intensive programme is the perfect opportunity to enhance water skills.
There are two holiday swim intensives in Ngaaruawaahia and Tuakau running throughout January:
- Ngaaruawaahia pool: Monday 13 January until Thursday 16 January from 9.30am – 12.30pm.
- Tuakau pool: Monday 20 January until Thursday 23 January from 9.30am – 12.30pm.

Is an afternoon around the pool on the cards?
Come along to Tuakau pool on Friday 24 January, 12pm – 4pm, and have a go on our paddle boats and enjoy a range of toys, games, music and food on offer.
There is no charge - Event is completely free.

The Waikato district has three community swimming pools located in Ngaaruawaahia, Huntly and Tuakau.
New Zealand leisure management specialists, Belgravia Leisure NZ, have been appointed by Waikato District Council to operate its aquatic facilities located in Huntly, Tuakau and Ngaaruawaahia.
Any
swimming lessons will be run by Belgravia Leisure NZ, please contact the relevant swimming pool location to find out more information.

The Ngaaruawaahia swimming pool will be closed from Monday 31 March 2025 until next summer.
The entry fees have been subsidised until the end of summer thanks to the Ngāruawāhia Community Board.

Huntly Aquatic Centre
This indoor facility has a lap pool and a learner and toddler’s pool. There is also an outdoor picnic area available.
