A bylaw is a rule or regulation made by a Local Authority such as the Waikato District Council. The Local Government Act 2002 empowers a local authority to make bylaws on a diverse range of subjects. Some other Acts also empower local authorities to make bylaws on specific topics.

A new Keeping of Animals Bylaw is currently under development. If you have any further questions or wish to be advised when feedback on a new Keeping of Animals Bylaw is open, please contact consult@waidc.govt.nz.
