The Dirty Dog Challenge is a fun event where you get to make your way around an obstacle course with your dog.
The event is organised by the Animal Control teams at Waikato District Council and Hamilton City Council, and will be held on Saturday 27 July at Ngaaruawaahia Christian Youth Camp.
In order to allow more people to take part, there will be two race times again this year. However, there is still a limit on numbers so we encourage people to register as soon as possible, says Animal Control Team Leader Trish Ambury.
“It is an extremely popular event with dog owners. The event has sold out for the past two years, so we recommend you get in quick.”
The first run will start at 10.30am and the second one will take place at 1.30pm.
This event is open to dogs of all shapes and sizes but they must be vaccinated, in good health and get on well with other dogs. They will need to be kept on a lead at all times.
All proceeds from the event will be used to help desex dogs in our communities. It’s a win-win, says Ambury.
“We love being able to offer something that people can do with their dogs. I can’t think of anything better than hanging out with your dog, getting some fresh air and enjoying the beautiful Waikato landscape. The money raised means we can offer more people a subsidised rate for desexing, which helps to reduce the number of unwanted dogs in our community.”
“Our team will be there with some of our Waikato Pound Pups and we look forward to seeing some of the wonderful dog owners in our community.”
