The Local Government Commission has announced their decision on the representation arrangements for the upcoming election of Waikato District Council for 2022.
In order to provide effective representation of communities of interest and fair representation for electors of Waikato District, the Commission has determined that:
The Council will comprise of a mayor and 13 councillors elected:
- Awaroa-Maramarua General Ward, x1
- Huntly General Ward, x1
- Newcastle-Ngāruawāhia General Ward, x2
- Tamahere-Woodlands General Ward, x2
- Tuakau-Pōkeno General Ward, x2
- Waerenga-Whitikahu General Ward, x1
- Western Districts General Ward, x1
- Whāingaroa General Ward, x1
- Tai Raro Takiwaa Maaori Ward, x1
- Tai Runga Takiwaa Maari Ward, x1
