Waikato District Council is contracting Recon Ltd to take aerial images across the district over the summer.
The images will be taken by drone from about 200m up. Drones are more environmentally friendly and less disruptive to stock compared to manned aircraft.
The images will be used for geographic information system mapping across council to evaluate development and assist planning.
Recon LTD is permitted to undertake the capture via drone under their NZ CAA Pt102 certification.
