Huntly footbridge to be removed for repainting and general maintenance

From 4pm, Tuesday 7 April, vehicular traffic will be detoured off State Highway 1 for a few hours while the Huntly footbridge connecting Strand and Glasgow Streets is removed.

Traffic management will be in place during the removal.

General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says the bridge will be removed for three weeks to undergo repainting and basic maintenance.

“While the expected completion date of April 27 will coincide with ANZAC Day, this period has been identified as the least likely to affect regular users of the footbridge.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will ensure the work is completed quickly with as little disruption as possible.”

During the project pedestrians will be required to use the alternate route as outlined below:

  • Main Street to Rayner Road
  • Rayner Road to Ralph Street
  • Ralph Street to William Street
  • William Street to Glasgow Street

If you have any queries about the project please contact Dave Taylor, Waikato District Council on 0800 492 452.
