Investing in the future you deserve

Tomorrow marks the beginning of an exciting conversation for our district – the public consultation period for our Long term Plan (LTP). Over the next four weeks, we’ll be hosting events across our beautiful district. We’re coming to you – to your halls, marae, markets and meeting places – to listen, connect and to understand what matters most to you.

You’ve chosen a fantastic place to live, raise families and grow businesses. Our Waikato district sits in the heart – and soul – of the golden triangle, with Auckland’s scale of opportunity just up the road and Hamilton, the fastest growing city in the country, right next door. We’re uniquely connected to urban hubs, while still enjoying that close-knit, small-town lifestyle that makes our country special.

But with opportunity comes responsibility. Providing essential services – from roads and rubbish to water and wastewater – is a responsibility and privilege we take seriously. Every dollar of your rates is managed with care, and we continue to apply rigorous fiscal discipline in the face of increasing costs and growing expectations.

We know times are tough. Many households and businesses are feeling the squeeze in different ways. That’s why this Long Term Plan (LTP) isn’t just about what we need now – it's about what we’ll need over the next nine years. It’s about the future you deserve, and the choices we must make together to get there.

Your voice matters. Whether you’re passionate about infrastructure, community facilities, waters or simply want to know more about how your money is being spent – this is your chance to help shape the path ahead.

We’re only a click, call or kia ora away. Visit our website, join us at a local event, talk to our team, and have your say. This is your place, your plan, your future.

Let’s invest in it – together.

Ngaa mihi and kind regards

Mayor Jacqui Church
