Waikato District Council is pleased to announce that our Waste Minimisation fund is now open.
The Waste Minimisation Fund seeks to inspire and support waste minimisation projects that involve the community and promote education while benefiting our communities. It offers support to groups, businesses, and educational institutions in the Waikato District looking to carry out waste minimization efforts.
We welcome applications from Waikato district-based schools, early childhood centres, Kura Kaupapa Maaori, adult educators, community groups and organisations, marae, and businesses both big and small.
Funding can be utilised for projects and activities such as educational programmes, events, studies, data collection, research, and social enterprises.
Our goal is to encourage long-term waste minimisation action and behaviour change, ultimately reducing waste to landfill. By working together and supporting one another, we can achieve our vision, goals, and objectives for waste minimization.
“Together, we can make a significant impact on our environment by cultivating sustainable habits and promoting responsible consumption,” says General Manager – Service Delivery, Megan May.
“Embracing a mindset of waste reduction not only benefits our planet but also contributes to a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come. This funding is our opportunity to invest in good old-fashioned kiwi ingenuity, and support our communities to find sustainable waste reduction solutions for a greener tomorrow.”
