KiwiRail and Waikato District Alliance will be repairing the rail crossing on the evening of Saturday 21 October.
Due to the fact that railway tracks need to be removed to resurface the crossing, a full night-time closure of Te Kauwhata Road at the crossing from 7pm to 6am is needed.
This will effectively stop any traffic entering or exiting Te Kauwhata from or to the west during this time.
Alternative routes to follow during this work are:
Traffic entering Te Kauwhata
Traffic wanting to enter Te Kauwhata via the expressway from the north will need to travel via Island Block Rd, along to Falls Rd and down to Waerenga Rd and into Te Kauwhata from the east.
Traffic wanting to enter Te Kauwhata via the expressway from the south will need to travel via Tahuna Rd, on to Waikare Road, along Waerenga Road from the east.
Traffic exiting Te Kauwhata
Traffic wanting to leave Te Kauwhata and head north will need to follow Waerenga, Falls, and Island Block roads back to the expressway
Traffic wanting to leave Te Kauwhata and head south will need to travel east along Waerenga Rd to Waikare Rd then south to Tahuna Rd and along Tahuna Rd back to the expressway.
A small access track alongside the road closure will be made available for emergency services should it be needed during the work.
Thank-you to the community for their patience during this work.
