Tuakau Library to move next door for a few months

Tuakau Library

Tuakau Library will move next door into the Tuakau War Memorial Town Hall next month, as preparations start for the library refurbishment project.

The library will be closed from 2 November to 7 November so that staff can move all the books and equipment in time for it to re-open from the hall on Monday 9 November.

Community events and meetings can still be held in the supper room of the hall, but the main hall area will be taken over by the library for a number of months.

There are some essential works that need to be done to the existing library before the construction phase of the project begins next year.

All the usual services will be available when the library is based in the hall, apart from WIFI and associated computer use.

Waikato District Council’s General Manager Customer Support Sue O’Gorman says the team are very excited about the project.

“We’re all looking forward to serving our customers in a much-improved and bigger library once construction is complete,” she says.

“This has been a long time coming and our community in the Tuakau area do deserve a brighter, more user-friendly environment to enjoy all that we have to offer in our library.”
