Council has received a request from the Matangi Hall Committee to increase the current Matangi Hall targeted rate from $24 to $30 for the 2019/20 year onwards.
The Hall Committee say the reason for the request is to enable them to continue to maintain the hall to a high standard.
“Until now the Hall Committee has relied on an increasing number of houses to increase the amount of income received to support the maintenance of the hall. The Hall Committee has spent over $200,000 in refurbishments over the last 10 years, all of which has been funded through the targeted rate,” Eureka Ward Councillor Rob McGuire says.
As no further subdivisions have been planned in the Matangi area, the Committee feel they can no longer rely on this to increase the income from targeted rates to fund the maintenance for the hall.
In order to continue maintaining the hall, the Matangi Hall Committee believe an increased targeted rate is necessary.
Council is now asking for your feedback on the proposed targeted rate increase for Matangi Hall.
