As a result of a truck crashing into the Huntly footbridge at about 6am on Tuesday, the bridge is closed to all foot traffic and will be removed by crane on Thursday night for repair.
Traffic management will be in place from about 8pm and State Highway 1 will be closed from midnight, reopening by 4am on Friday at the latest. Detours will be in place.
Unfortunately there is no time frame yet on how long the bridge will be out of action.
People need to use either Bell Crossing or Rayner Road bridge as alternatives in the meantime.
Taking a shortcut across the train tracks is not safe and should not be encouraged.
