UPDATE 10:37AM - Good news, the water reservoir is filling back up quickly and is currently at 30%. Water should return to normal for all residents soon.
Thank you to everyone who conserved water and for your patience while we fixed the issue.
This is an urgent message to people connected to our drinking water supply - our waters team has identified that there is an issue with the Te Kauwhata supply.
The team has been working overnight to find out what that issue is and this morning found what was causing the issue. However as a result the council's drinking water reservoir is at a very low level.
The team has undertaken some temporary repairs on the water mains, which will hopefully see the reservoirs filling shortly.
Drinking water is being trucked to Te Kauwhata as we speak but this is a slow process. So we are asking the Te Kauwhata community to reduce non-essential water use to a minimum as the team continues to work to resolve the problem.
There will be an update at about 10:30amthis morning. Until then please only use water as sparingly as possible.
This is not a contamination issue and there is no risk to human health.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
