Waikato District Council is expanding its online services and offering alternative over-the-counter payment options for ratepayers in the district.
Ratepayers can now go online to ask for their rates and water invoices to be emailed to them, instead of posted. The new service can be found under the ‘Apply for it’ button on the Council’s home page where ratepayers can also apply online to pay property and water rates by direct debit. It is designed for customers who like dealing with the Council online and it complements the online credit card payment option found under the ‘Pay it’ button on the Council’s home page.
Council customers who prefer to pay their rates in person will also have the option of using the ‘Pay a bill’ service at NZ Post outlets from tomorrow (Tuesday 6 December).
Waikato District Council’s acting Chief Executive Tony Whittaker says, ”The new services are designed to make it easier for ratepayers no matter whether they prefer to operate online, or pay over-the-counter in a variety of ways.”
Head of Payment Sales at NZ Post, Brett Walters says, “NZ Post is delighted to be providing a payment option for ratepayers in the Waikato district. Customers have more options on when and where it’s convenient for them to pay their rates, at the same time as paying other utility bills.”
An online ‘PostShop locator’ service is available to help Council customers and ratepayers to find their nearest branch, details of opening hours and services offered.
The new options are additional to the existing online and over-the-counter bank services available for paying Council rates.
