Work is due to start on the Huntly Memorial Hall to prevent further moisture damage.
In September, Council resolved to put the demolition of the Huntly facility on hold while a community working group, which will look at the town’s community facilities, is formed with assistance from the Huntly Community Board. The group will report their findings back to Council to inform the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan process.
Council also resolved to undertake remedial work to help prevent further deterioration of the hall; this work involves re-pitching a section of the roof over the front entrance of the hall, general minor roof repairs to ensure the roof is water tight along with cleaning and re-painting the hall’s back wall. Work on the hall is due to start on 31 October.
