Second phase of Pokeno wastewater scheme proceeds to tender stage

At the June meeting of the Strategy and Finance Committee, Waikato District Council agreed to progress with phase two of the Pokeno wastewater scheme. Council has been discussing with Pokeno Village residents the second phase of the project which will see wastewater reticulation installed into the existing village.

The Council team were at a recent Pokeno market day to meet with the community and learnt that lots of locals are keen to see maps of where the scheme will go. These maps will be available shortly. The project will soon be going out to the tender stage and construction should start this summer with the project expected to be finished by 1 July, 2017.

If you haven’t signed up already and wish to, it’s not too late. Connection agreements will be accepted until early 2017.

Properties that are eligible to connect will receive a 50% subsidy towards the costs and the choice of two payment options.

If you wish to discuss this project further, please phone Council on 0800 492 452 or email Pokeno.Scheme@waidc.govt.nz.

Note: The first phase of the wastewater scheme was for commercial in Pokeno. The second and final phase is for residential properties in the 'old' Pokeno village.
