Te Kauwhata library welcomes new educational tool

Be one of the first to use the new tablets available at the Te Kauwhata Library and Council Office.

Jam packed with educational and learning apps, Waikato District Council is excited to be able to offer this new self- led learning service.

The tablets have been loaded with selected apps including TED talks, Khan Academy and the New Zealand Herald.

“Our libraries play an important part in education and learning,” said Sue Duignan, Customer Support General Manager.

The wider internet such as email, search engines, social media and gaming sites won’t be accessible on the tablets.

Tablet users are asked to keep an eye on the time so that others waiting can have a go, and to bring their own ear phones, as they are not provided. Users need to be nine years or older.

The new tablets are in addition to the computers already available in the Te Kauwhata Library and Council Office.

The Council hopes to introduce tablets into the other Waikato District Libraries later this year.
