Ngaruawahia Library is packing up its temporary office and will reopen at its Jesmond Street site on Monday 17 August.
The Council facility was closed in June after contractors found asbestos during a planned refurbishment and General Manager Customer Support, Sue Duignan, says the building has been given the all clear and the team can now move back into the refurbished building.
“We understand the move to an alternate venue has been a challenge for some of our customers and we appreciate their patience during this project. Our first priority was always about making the library a safe place for staff and our customers so we’re pleased the experts have given us the all clear.”
“To co-ordinate the move we need to permanently close the temporary library at the end of business on Saturday 8 August.
“If you need to return your library books you can take them to our Council office in Ngaruawahia, or one of our other libraries (Huntly, Raglan, Meremere or Te Kauwhata). Don’t worry - we’re waiving all late fees during the transition period.”

- Limited library services will be reduced Monday 10 to Saturday 15 August inclusive.
- Normal library services, including full access to Wi-Fi, will resume at Jesmond Street from Monday 17 August.
- Ngaruawahia Library’s usual business hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm.
