The Whaaingaroa Wharf Structural Repair project

Late in 2022, we carried out essential maintenance work to help future-proof the wharf. This included repairing some areas of concrete and steel that have worn away over time on the underside of the wharf. This work is now complete.

Project milestones

November 2021

Initial inspection of wharf and need for detailed assessments established.
January 2022

Detailed inspection and assessment of the wharf carried out.
August 2022 onwards

Undertake under wharf structural repairs.
December 2022

Work complete

What issues were identified?

The assessment identified several areas in the existing reinforced concrete beneath the wharf in need of a touch-up or replacement which is common for wharf structures of this age. This work has now been carried out.
